  I have observed that in unwanted cameras, exceptional sensors help to {focus|concentrate|maintain focus|target|a**** automatically. Those sensors associated with some surveillance cameras change in contrast, while others work with a beam involving infra-red (IR) light, especially in low lumination. Higher specs cameras from time to time use a mix of both devices and might have Face Priority AF where the camera can 'See' your face while keeping focused only in that.
